Academic profile and entry requirements

The programme offers two entry points. Admission to the first year is open to applicants holding a Bachelor's degree (equivalent to Bac+3) in management, economics, finance, accounting or business law, as well as graduates from business schools or equivalent management programmes. Direct entry into the second year is available to students with a four-year higher education qualification (Bac+4 equivalent) who wish to gain an advanced specialisation leading to a Level 7 RNCP qualification.

Academic backgrounds in finance, economics and management provide the most natural pathway into the programme, as they equip students with essential knowledge in accounting, financial analysis and business law that supports the study of the programme's technical modules. Graduates from engineering schools or other quantitative disciplines are also encouraged to apply, provided they have a strong interest in finance and organisational management.

International applicants are admitted through an application review, a motivation interview and a language assessment. As most courses are taught in French, proficiency in the language is essential. Some modules, including **Business English** and **Business Rhetoric**, are delivered in English to prepare students for careers in bilingual and international professional environments.

Personal qualities and expected competencies

Success in the programme depends on more than technical knowledge alone. Rigour is one of the most important qualities sought in applicants. In auditing and management control, inaccurate analysis or misinterpreted financial information can lead to significant business consequences. Candidates who naturally pay close attention to detail and carefully verify their work before presenting conclusions are particularly well suited to these professions.

Strong analytical thinking is equally essential. Students are expected to demonstrate the ability to break down complex problems, identify relevant information from large volumes of data and formulate well-reasoned recommendations. These skills are progressively developed throughout the programme through case studies, group projects and the integrated business simulation conducted during the second year.

Independence and teamwork, although seemingly contrasting qualities, are both indispensable. Auditors and management controllers must be capable of organising their work autonomously while collaborating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including accounting teams, operational managers and statutory auditors. Applicants who have already developed these abilities through student associations, collaborative projects or internships enter the programme with a valuable advantage.

Valuable experience and projects

Any professional experience related to auditing or finance, however brief, strengthens an application. Internships in audit or management control, placements within finance departments, or involvement in student organisations requiring budget management or performance monitoring all demonstrate that applicants have already applied theoretical knowledge to real business situations and understand the practical realities of the profession.

A coherent career plan is equally important. Applicants who can clearly explain why they wish to pursue a career in auditing or management control—whether in terms of preferred organisations or long-term professional objectives—are viewed as motivated, mature candidates who are likely to make the most of the programme. Previous work-study experience, even in related fields such as project management, corporate finance or consulting, is also highly valued as evidence of professional adaptability.

International outlook and diversity of backgrounds

The diversity of student backgrounds is one of the programme's key strengths. Each cohort brings together students from a variety of academic disciplines and countries, including individuals who have already gained professional experience abroad. This diversity enriches classroom discussions, collaborative projects and reflections on auditing and management control practices across different cultural and regulatory environments.

International students also contribute valuable perspectives on accounting standards, corporate governance and organisational practices in different markets. For French students planning careers within multinational companies or global audit firms, studying alongside peers educated in different systems provides practical preparation for the international environments they are likely to encounter. EDC Paris Business School further supports this global perspective through its network of international partner universities and opportunities to complete part of the programme abroad.
