A STEP INTO WORKING LIFE
The internship is halfway between a traditional internship and a work-study programme. It generally lasts longer than a simple internship (6 to 10 months) and the student's status is not the same as for a work-study internship. The work-study internship must follow the rhythm of the training programme, i.e. 3 weeks in the company / 1 week of training. The host company may cover all or part of the student's training costs, depending on negotiations between the student and the company. In any case, if the internship lasts more than 2 months, the student is paid at least the legal minimum wage. The advantage of work-study programmes is that they immerse students in the professional world and allow them to put their theoretical knowledge into practice.
An apprenticeship contract is a written fixed-term or permanent employment contract between an employee and an employer.
It allows the apprentice to follow a work-study programme between the company, under the supervision of an apprenticeship supervisor, and an apprentice training centre (CFA) for a period of 6 months to 3 years. The apprenticeship contract must comply with the training schedule, i.e. 3 weeks in the company / 1 week in training. Since 1 January 2020, the cost of apprenticeship training has been covered by skills operators (OPCO) at a level set by the professional branches according to the field of activity of the qualification or diploma sought (or, failing that, by decree, particularly when the training has never been provided as an apprenticeship). For contracts lasting more than one year, reimbursement is granted for each year of the contract. In the case of the last year of the contract, payment is made on a pro rata basis. When the duration of the contract is less than one year, the amount is calculated on a pro rata basis according to the level of annual remuneration. In the event of early termination of the apprenticeship contract, payment is made on a pro rata basis for the duration of the apprenticeship contract. Any month that has begun is due. This formula allows you to gain unique and lasting experience as a real employee of the company (1 week at school - 3 weeks in the field).

All of the assignments I completed were highly educational. At the end of the year, I did my ‘Sales Force’ internship at a Nicolas store as an authorised manager, where I gained a great deal of independence and rigour.
