PROGRAMME
Derivatives & Hedging Strategies: understanding and using options, futures and swaps.
Portfolio Management & Asset Allocation: building and managing diversified portfolios.
Quantitative Finance & Modelling: applying quantitative methods to market decision-making.
Market Risk Management & Regulation: measuring, managing and controlling risk exposure.
The teaching approach is based on a combination of active and vocationally-oriented methods that place the student at the heart of their learning. Project-based learning plays a central role: case studies, team work and community projects enable students to apply theoretical concepts to real-life situations, whilst developing collaborative skills and analytical thinking.
This dynamic is reinforced by the co-construction of knowledge, particularly through flipped classrooms, which encourage active engagement with the subject matter, greater participation in class and increased intellectual autonomy.
The programme also incorporates blended learning, combining the benefits of face-to-face and digital learning. The use of digital tools, collaborative platforms and video resources diversifies learning methods and provides flexibility tailored to students’ current needs.
Finally, professional immersion is a key pillar. Work placements, work-study schemes, in-company assignments and involvement in voluntary organisations enable students to apply what they have learnt to real-world situations, understand organisational dynamics and develop the skills required in the professional world.
Together, these elements form a coherent, stimulating and career-focused educational framework, designed to effectively prepare future managers for contemporary challenges.
Throughout the academic programme, students are assessed in a variety of ways:
Examination methods are tailored to the level of study: at undergraduate level, examinations (multiple-choice questions, knowledge tests, practical exercises) are primarily designed to assess the acquisition of knowledge. Subsequently, students are assessed primarily through case studies, role-plays and project presentations.
Each work placement involves the completion of a report designed to ensure that the relevant skills have been acquired.
More generally, we use the following six levels of cognitive skills to assess our students:
Understanding: quizzes, matching exercises, etc.
Recognising / Knowing: quizzes, matching exercises, etc.
Applying: (practical exercises, simulations, etc.)
Analysing: (problem-solving, case studies, etc.)
Evaluate: (case studies, critiques, etc.)
Create: (projects, etc.)
Lecturers award bonus marks for active participation in class or online when students contribute to a discussion forum.
The validation of prior learning may be carried out in full or by skills block. It is based on the documentation provided by the learner. All the skills within each skills block must be addressed in the VAE booklet in order for that block to be validated. There is no time limit on partial validation.
Bridges and Equivalences
There are no bridges or equivalences: enrolment on the programme requires students to complete all modules. If a block is not validated following a resit session, the student must repeat the year and will not retain credit for any blocks that may have been validated.
