1 EDC Paris, among the top business schools in France

With 60 years of experience and having been awarded the Master’s degree, EDC, Ecole des Dirigeants et Créateurs d’entreprise, is ranked among the top 40 business schools in France today.

EDC Paris delivers a diploma conferring the level of a Master’s degree and a Bac+5 by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research. Consequently, it is in harmony with the European norms of the LMD system and the most important international standards.

Students are recruited through a competitive exam that is specific to EDC. The objective for the school is, in effect, to measure the candidates’ creativity, adaptability, dynamism and spirit of innovation.

EDC Paris has put in place a quality approach that has permitted it to become the first post-Bac school in France to obtain the ISO 9001 label, version 2008, from the AFAQ (management through quality).

2 A School of Management for Entrepreneurship

EDC graduates have a shared entrepreneurial spirit and a sense of business values.

EDC places the human qualities and competences sought by enterprises at the heart of its teaching. Its students become young managers who are immediately operational and capable of adapting in a constantly changing professional environment, both in France and internationally.

During these five years of education, the degree course combines theoretical teaching, internships and missions. This allows students to try out their methodological and technical knowledge right within companies. To develop their qualities, EDC constantly encourages their sense of responsibility, their spirit of initiative and their ability to work as a team. All students must do a foreign internship or university exchange for at least a term in order to obtain their diploma.

EDC Capital supports entrepreneurship

In order to encourage projects to start up or take over businesses, 40 former EDC students created EDC Capital in 2007. Sharing the school’s values of seniors helping and supporting younger members, this million-Euro fund is unique in France. Already it has encouraged the creation of several businesses:

EASYBIKE, created in 2007 - CANOVA, created in 2007- CROSSMEDIAPUB, created in 2008 - ESCALE NANTAISE, taken over in 2008 - KALYSTOS and OPENWAYS, created in 2009 - NVIES EN VILLE, created in 2011 - THEODOSE, created in 2012 -.

At every step of the degree programme, the year patrons, graduates network, lecturers, teaching principals and the department of School-Enterprise relations support each student to construct his or her own professional project.

PATRONAGE

One of EDC’s traditions is that each year a patron is chosen among former students. The patron, chosen for his or her exemplary career and values, takes time to guide that year’s students throughout the five years of their academic course. Attentive to their expectations, he or she offers experience and recommendations to help them bring their professional projects to reality. ·

A HIGH-LEVEL TEACHING STAFF

EDC is supported by a first-class teaching staff who combine academic credentials with hands-on expertise. Alongside 25 fulltime teachers, all of whom have or are studying for management doctorates, in charge of teaching and research, more than 150 professionals and business leaders intervene in courses, each sharing with students their knowhow, advice and responsibilities to offer a concrete approach to the world of business.

DIRECTORS OF EDUCATION

They are the students’ dedicated interlocutors throughout the academic course. Through a personalized accompaniment, they advise and help each student to succeed with their studies and to choose the specialization best suited to them. During business missions, the directors of education assure that the students adopt a professional approach and attitude towards dealing with the problems set out by the project leaders.

DEPARTMENT OF SCHOOL/ENTERPRISE RELATIONS

EDC’s objective is that students find a job immediately after, if not before, their graduation. The Department of “School-Enterprise relations” is a special link between companies and students. A coach follows each student individually, in order to optimize their potential and to help them meet the challenges they face at EDC today and in business tomorrow. Each person benefits from specific support designed to help them define their professional project, strengthen their determination, and be prepared to take up challenges.  Coaches are able to help in multiple areas: drawing up a winning CV and covering letter, strategies for finding internships and employment; interviewing techniques; the preparation and positive presentation of work experience; but also the definition of points of interest, finding possible blockages or points of resistance; the identification of objectives and the appropriation of one’s own career. In this way, the EDC student can give more meaning to what they are doing today and tomorrow.

THE ARRIVAL SEMINAR

All students start their studies at EDC with an arrival seminar which lasts for two and a half weeks. Its purpose is to pass on the methodological tools that are essential for succeeding at EDC: interpersonal communication, written communication, work organisation and time management; the creation of a “Professional Project” coordinating plan; and linguistic improvement.

4 THE FORCE OF THE GRADUATE NETWORK

The network of EDC Graduates is one of the most effective of all French business schools with its 13 000 members, including 4000 business leaders, in 74 countries. Highly active, it is organised in regional and international delegations allowing graduates to exchange with each other in business clubs.
