LES INSCRIPTIONS AU CONCOURS DEBUTERONT LE 1ER DECEMBRE 2011.
Les admissions en 1re et 2e Années : Concours EDC Paris.
Le concours EDC Paris est un concours spécifique à l'école.
Objectif : mesurer la créativité, l’adaptabilité, le dynamisme et l’esprit d’innovation des candidats. Ouvert aux élèves de Terminale et aux titulaires du baccalauréat des séries L, ES, S et STT, il se déroule en deux temps :
1. Une phase écrite dite d’admissibilité composée :
● d’une épreuve de logique et de raisonnement présentée sous forme de questionnaire à choix multiple (Tage 2). Ce test vise à appréhender : - les capacités de mémorisation du candidat- sa capacité à résoudre des problèmes mathématiques- sa capacité de raisonnement
● d’une épreuve d’anglais (compréhension et expression écrite);
● d’une épreuve optionnelle obligatoire (mathématiques, économie, deuxième langue).
2. une phase orale dite d’admission composée :
● d’un mini-jeu d’entreprise qui consiste à mettre les candidats dans une situation simplifiée d’entreprise liée à des questions de relations humaines, de créativité (publicité, lancement de produits, ouverture de boutique…)
● d’une épreuve d’anglais (dialogue avec un professeur)
● d’un entretien individuel qui a pour objet d’appréhender la personnalité et la motivation du candidat.
EDC se réserve le droit de sélectionner les dossiers de candidature pour l’admission en 2ème sur les deux critères suivants :
-résultats scolaires ou universitaires (notes et crédits ECTS des deux dernières années académiques de cursus secondaire et/ou supérieures),
- motivations (éléments inscrits dans le dossier de candidature et lettre de motivation éventuellement jointe).A l’issue de cette sélection, les candidats retenus sont convoqués aux épreuves écrites.

Concours PASSERELLE ESC
Réunissant 17 Écoles Supérieures de Commerce et de Management, toutes membres de la Conférence des Grandes Écoles, PASSERELLE ESC est la plus importante banque d’épreuves commune en France. Les candidats aux concours Passerelle 1 et Passerelle 2 sont issus de parcours universitaires, scientifiques, littéraires, économiques, juridiques ou technologiques, pour les admissions directes dans les Grandes Ecoles.

Les épreuves PASSERELLE ESC
Entrance exam centres (only for the first session for admission to first year) :
Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Paris (EDC), Rennes, Strasbourg, Toulouse.
Entrance exam dates :
- 1st exam session for admission to 1st year : 19th of April 2010
- 1st exam session for admission to 2nd, 3rd and 4th years : 20th of April 2010.
- 2nd entrance exam session for admission to the first year :
25th of June 2010 at 9:15am.
The exams will take place in the EDC buildings in Paris La Défense 1.
The EDC entrance exam is specific to the school.
The objective : to measure the candidates’ creativity, adaptability, dynamism and spirit of innovation. The exam is open to all students in their final year of school and to holders of a French L, ES, S and STT baccalaureate school diploma, or its equivalent.
It is in two parts :
1. A written section, for admissibility, composed of:
● a multiple-choice test of logical and reasoning (TAGE 2). This test aims to measure the candidate’s capacity for memorisation, mathematical problem-solving abilities and reasoning abilities.
● an English test (testing the candidate’s ability to write and understand English).
● a choice of one more obligatory exam (mathematics, economics, second language).
2. An oral section, for admission, composed of:
● a mini business role-playing game which consists of putting candidates in simplified business situations relating to human relations or creativity (such as advertising, product launches, opening a shop).
● an oral English exam (dialogue with a Teacher)
● an individual interview to judge the candidate’s personality and motivation
EDC reserves the right to select candidate applications for admission to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years based on the following two criteria:
-scholastic or university grades (marks and ECTS grades from the last two academic years of secondary or tertiary education),
- motivation (elements making up the candidate’s dossier including covering letter). At the end of this selection, the shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit written exams.

EDC’s 1st year entrance exam is open to students in the last year of school. They will not be accepted until they have been awarded their school baccalaureate or equivalent.
After the written exams, the jury will draw up an alphabetical list of candidates selected for the oral exam. Each shortlisted candidate will be notified by post.
• Logic and reasoning test, TAGE 2 (Test of Aptitude for higher level management studies)
The test is composed of three multiple-choice papers aimed at examining :
Part 1 : the candidate’s capacity for memorisation.
Part 2 : the candidate’s mathematical problem-solving ability
Part 3 : the candidate’s reasoning ability
• ENGLISH
This test is composed of two parts:
Part 1 : a multiple-choice paper composed of 30 questions testing the candidate’s knowledge of grammar and vocabulary.
Marks: 30 points
Part 2 : a text on a general subject -
A - Comprehension :
-> Explanation of words and phrases.
-> Questions to demonstrate understanding of the text.
B – Written test :
-> Composition of an essay in relation to the text.
Marks: 35 points.
The candidate is free to choose how he divides his time between the two parts.
• OPTIONS
Candidates must choose one of the following options to be tested on :
SECOND LANGUAGE : The candidate can choose between Spanish, Italian, German, Chinese or Arabic.
This test is carried out in the same way as for English.
MATHEMATICS : This test is designed to measure the candidate’s general mathematical ability with regards to the academic level required for admission.
It is composed of a series of practical mathematical exercises.
ECONOMICS : This test is designed to measure the candidate’s general understanding of economics. The candidate will be asked to write an essay on an economic subject related to the official French Terminal ES programme , with a dossier of relevant press articles to back it up.

After the oral exams, the jury will draw up the definitive list of accepted candidates by order of merit, as well as a complementary list which will be called upon in the event of the withdrawal of already accepted candidates.
• Mini business role-playing game: This test brings together 5 or 6 candidates.
The mini business role-playing game consists of putting candidates in simplified business situations relating to human relations or creativity (such as advertising, product launches, opening a shop). Candidates must demonstrate a spirit of initiative, rigor, good sense and creativity.
Prior business experience is not necessary.
This test has three objectives:
- to determine the candidates’ resourcefulness and ability to argue their case.
- to test the candidates’ ability to work as a team
- to evaluate their personalities (leadership, business sense, creativity, etc.)
The test is composed of three parts:
Part 1: the team has 10 minutes to understand the subject and to ask the jury whatever questions that they think will help them to develop the project they have been presented with.
Part 2: the team has 20 minutes to solve the problem set and to prepare the final presentation.
Part 3: the team has 5 minutes to present their solution. The division of time for each team member to speak is left to the discretion of the team. At the end of the presentation, the jury may ask whatever questions it considers useful (5 minutes).
The qualities of resourcefulness will be demonstrated by the candidates’ evaluation of the situation they have been presented with, by their questions to the jury, and by the creativity and aptness of the elements of the solution proposed to the group.
The candidates’ ability to work in a team will be assessed according to their behaviour and the initiatives taken within the team.
The candidates’ personality will be assessed through their behaviour within the group, through their participation in the presentation of the solution, and through their answers to the jury’s questions.
Time: 40 minutes
The jury is composed of three people: a representative of the school’s teaching staff or management, a former student of the school, and a company director.
• English test
After reading an article on current affairs or listening to an interview with a politician or business leader, the candidate will discuss its content with a teacher. The candidate should be able not only to express himself correctly about the subject, but also to express and defend his opinions on it.
Time: 15 minutes to prepare the interview.
Examiner: an English teacher and/or an Anglophone business leader.
• Individual interview
This interview is designed to assess the candidate’s personality and motivation. It is not meant to evaluate precise knowledge, but rather to see how the candidate’s personality matches the spirit of the school.
Composition of the jury: the jury is composed of a representative of the world of business, a representative of the school’s teaching staff or management, and a former student.

The 2nd year entrance exam to EDC is open to candidates who have obtained 60 ECTS credits at higher education level* in an economics or business subject.
Candidates having completed a year of higher education of the same level and nature may be accepted by the school board.
Candidates cannot be definitively accepted until they have obtained the 60 ECTS credits. Proof of these must be shown before the beginning of the EDC school year.
The written and oral exams are identical to those described for the 1st year entrance exam. However, the subjects and levels demanded by examiners are adapted to the level of admission for the 3rd year.
*Diploma from the French state or abroad.

The 3rd year entrance exam to EDC is open to candidates who have obtained 120 ECTS credits at higher education level* in an economics or business subject in France or abroad. Candidates cannot be definitively accepted until they have obtained the 120 ECTS credits. Proof of these must be shown before the beginning of the EDC school year.
The written and oral exams are identical to those described for the 1st year entrance exam. However, the subjects and levels demanded by examiners are adapted to the level of admission for the 3rd year.
You may consult the 2009 exam papers for practice Download the pdfThe 4th year entrance exam to EDC is open to candidates who have obtained 180 ECTS credits at higher education level* in an economics or business subject in France or abroad (bachelor’s degree). Candidates cannot be definitively accepted until they have obtained the 180 ECTS credits. Proof of these must be shown before the beginning of the EDC school year.
Oral exams:
- English (coefficient .2)
- Individual interview (coefficient .6)
Oral exams may be held, if necessary, via telephone or video conferencing.
*Diploma from the French state or abroad.
The maximum age for admission is 25 years old for first year, 26 years old for second year and 27 years old for third and fourth year, on the 31st of December of the course year.
The entrance exam is only for admission to the year immediately after the exam. Successful candidates wishing to defer will only be able to do so under exceptional circumstances duly justified and submitted to the Dean of EDC for approval.
A candidate can only take one entrance exam once in the year.
